I recently purchased a WD Elements external hard drive for my Mac Book Pro. After plugging in the hard drive with the supplied usb cord my computer gave me a message that said that it could not recognize the device. Can someone tell me how to fix this or if I need to send the hard drive back? I have tried restarting my computer and this did not help.

WD Elements comes in NTFS file format, pre-formatted for use with Windows-based
computers. But It can be easily reformatted in HFS+ file format for use with MacOS. You may refer below link to reformat macOS in HFS+ file format.
