WD20EARX not seen by BIOS

Hi all,

I’ve just bought a WD20EARX as a second drive to my SAMSUNG SP2504C which is now very full.

They are both connected to a ASUS M4A78LT-M LE board (BIOS updated today).

When I installed the WD drive it was seen by Windows 7, installed, formatted and happy.

I started to move a few files over to the WD drive and transfer slowed to a snail pace, so I cancelled the transfer.

After a system reset the new WD drive isnt seen by BIOS.

I have tried all the swaps suggested (power cables, SATA leads, SATA sockets, PC’s etc) no way anything sees this new drive.

SATA controller in BIOS is set to 1-4 IDE, 5-6 IDE.

Anyone have any last suggestions before I return the drive and look a muppet for missing something simple?

Thanks in advance.

Kew

Seems to be the case from what I am reading. Any ideas on what killed it as it was working for about 20 to 30 mins. Kew

Btw didn’t say thanks for the reply david  I just got my RMA report back today and yup it was a faulty drive. At least I don’t feel so bad for not being able to make it work now & the replacement should be here tomorrow. Once again thanks for taking the time to reply +1 kudos for you time. Kew
