After receiving a My Cloud HOME wireless network storage device, I discovered:
It’s not wireless
There is no ip-based interface (no dashboard)
90% of the results when I search for help with the “WD MyCloud Home” refer to how I have to use the “dashboard”
The “My Cloud Home” setup route doesn’t allow me to use the device locally as a backup without using WD software
I finally found my own way to a DIFFERENT webpage that said to use: "\MYCLOUD-last 6 digits of SN" – for generic access to a PUBLIC folder
For generic access to Private folders, I had to find ANOTHER webpage saying I had to separately install “WD Discovery for My Cloud Home” software.

Can anyone show me WHERE on “https://home.mycloud.com/” it WARNS about needing “WD Discovery” software (or the Public folder hack) to make the device accessible to Windows & apps?

Does WD have any idea how destructive it is to flood the internet with instructions for product called “ABC” and then release a crippled version of it called “ABC HOME”? Do you see the problem, google-wise?

How can a big company with a lot to lose like WD sell “wireless” devices that aren’t really wireless? I expect this ■■■■ from Amazon (their search engines are gone, they’re just ads now–even the checkbox filters are ignored). But is WD… My client said not to worry about, but I feel like if WD isn’t punished somehow, they’re just going to keep shitting the bed. Anybody know how to start a cancel campaign?
