WD Scorpio Blue red flashing lights, but no connection to PC

First use of my WD Scorpio Blue EHD (250 GB-SATA dated 13 Oct 2008) was on 29 Dec 2014 when connected to a brand new Acer Laptop running Windows 8. Later, the same EHD was connected to an old IBM laptop running XP Professional. After 2 yrs storage the unit will only give me red flashing lights and not work on any PC. Any Ideas please?

Please test the drive using Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows:

WD Software
