WD Red HDD noise - RMA?

Hi everyone.

I have two WD Red 4TBs in my desktop media system.

After transferring large amounts of new data onto one of the drives, it has been making almost-constant loud activity noises for the past two days. I thought maybe it was defragmenting itself or something… but it shows no sign of stopping.

Windows shows drive activity at 0% and I have no programs running which would be accessing this drive. SMART info doesn’t show any problems, but I haven’t yet run a complete sector-by-sector check.

What should my next steps be? Do I need to run the WD Diagnostic extended test (it was estimating 16 hours run time…)? Should I request an RMA on the basis of the noise alone?
