WD Red 6TB noise (with recording)

Hello,

I purchased two new WDC WD60EFRX-68L0BN1, 6 TB drives with 82.00A82 firmware for my NAS and they seem to work fine, the S.M.A.R.T. data and tests are good and they run quite cool.
But with low ambient noise I was surprised to hear a repeating, very audible noise every few seconds even when seemingly idling. OS power management features are disabled for debug purposes.

Here is a sample: https://soundcloud.com/zenofx/hdd-noise/s-7fwwj

It doesn’t seem to be connected to any OS scheduled disk writing or reading activity since I even tested them unitialized. They both do this, I checked them separately.
These “nudges” are quite forceful, very noticeable when touching the drives.

If not both drives would show this behaviour I would already have them returned by now. Is this coincidence? Are they supposed to do this?

Thank you.
