I have 2 WD My Passport Ultra drives which are showing the same weird behaviour. I am running Windows 7.
I can unlock both drives with the WD Unlocker that shows up when you plug them in. I can read/write to them etc, so they function perfectly. But when I try to remove the password from them using WD Security it won’t let me, it says “Invalid Password”.
If I try to unlock them via the correct passwords in WD Security it fails with the same error “Invalid Password”. But the exact same password works in WD Unlocker, and then when the drive is unlocked this way, it shows up as unlocked in WD Security but won’t let me change the password!
Has anyone seen this before? I want to remove security from the drives so I can read them in Linux too.
