Hi,
I have WD My Passport Ultra, which is currently not opening on my Mac. It is making noise and the light is blinking, as well as it appears on windows, but not on Mac. I am using MacOS Sierra version 10.12.6. I have installed WD Drive utilities but when I open the programme it says that the disk is not plugged in, even when I have it plugged and working.
What it the problem? Is it because the disk is not supported only by the OS,
Well WD My Passport Ultra comes in NTFS Pre-format file system which is only compatible with Windows OS. However, if you wish to use the drive in macOS, you have to reformat the drive in exFAT file system. Make sure you have a backup of your drive as formatting is a data destructive process.
Hej Peter.g
I have already reformatted the drive the first time I used it on my Mac, and it was working perfectly and I already have files on it. Its is just recently it stopped working, and I have no idea why. I actually never used the drive on Windows
Can the problem be that I updated my OS to Sierra? I am not sure if I recall correct, but I think when I first start using the drive on Mac (like 2 years ago) I was using Yosemite or El Capitan)?
Well mac upgrade is not an issue, as this drive is compatible with Siera macOS. However, you can format the drive and see after that will it work or not.
