I have a “WD My Passport Ultra” which is not being detected by WIndows11 on my new laptop. I am in need of my saved files and an anxious to get it working.
The USB slot and connecting cable appears to be working fine, as the indicator light switches on when connected, but the PC does not take any notice of it. On the other hand 16GB USB Pendrive work fine in the same slot.
Hi @SunilKri
Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the WD Technical Support team for the best assistance and troubleshooting:
To fix your WD My Passport Ultra not being detected by Windows 11, try these steps: Connect to different USB ports, check Disk Management for unallocated disks, update or reinstall drivers through Device Manager, install Windows updates, use WD Drive Utilities software, test the drive on another computer, ensure proper power supply if applicable, and consider data recovery software if the drive is detected but inaccessible. If these don’t work, the drive may have hardware issues requiring professional data recovery services.
Thank you Esther,
The WD My Passport Ultra worked with a different cable. I will try it again and come back if the issue persists.
Warm regards,
Sunil
