I have WD My Passport 2tb on my PS5 and it worked very well but suddenly it stopped working I tried to plug it on my laptop even my laptop can’t reach the hard drive please I need the solution.
The drive will not be seen on your laptop because it’s formatted/partitioned/encrypted for use on the PS5 … meaning a laptop running Windows/Mac/Linux will not see it.
Except in Disk Management where the only option will be is to initialize it … which will format it.
The other option is to wipe/format on the PS5 to exFAT and then your laptop will see it.
You can format a drive when you no longer want to use it as a USB extended storage drive for your PS5 console. When you format the USB extended storage drive, all game data saved on the drive is erased.
- Go to Settings > Storage > USB Extended Storage.
- Select … (More) > Format as exFAT.
