I’m hoping someone can help me with this.
I recently upgraded my computer to Windows 8 and I am very happy with the upgrade so far! I have been able to run every application I need and perform my every day tasks successfully so far with the exception of 1.
Sharing my media files with my WD Live TV…
I was previously running Windows 7 and am pretty positive (99% positive) that I am using the same exact settings as I was before I performed my clean upgrade. My network shares previously worked fine 100%, all 5TB worth of data, no issues at all.
Since the upgrade I am no longer able to find my PC under Network Shares. It does appear under Media Servers however, it shows generic My Documents data and Network Shares is how I am used to accessing it appropriately.
I have verified settings in Advanced Sharing Settings (All options are the same as they were in Windows 7)
I have edited my registry after seeing that it had solved the problem for some people with similar issues in Windows 7.
I have also changed my user account to a Local User account (new Windows Live Account disabled) as suggested on other forums.
I re-shared all the same folders with “EVERYONE” and given full read access.
The shares are confirmed functional on 2 of my roommates Windows 7 PCs and my other Windows 8 PC, no prompt for username or password appears and my PC can simply be found on through the Network Browser in Windows.
I am still unsuccessful at even viewing my PC under Network Shares.
Any possible advice?
