WD HD Media Player compatible with iTunes/Mac formats?

I am thinking of purchasing a WD HD Media player for my Mother-In-Law for Xmas. However I am a Mac user & all my files are encoded either .mov, .mp4 or m4v for my Apple TV. I would like to know if these file formats would be  compatible with WD HD Media player).

I have read the tech specs & it seems that they would be, except for .m4v’s (… which is only a matter of changing the extention to .mp4). The reason I am asking is I do not want to have to reincode everything again. It seems that there always seems to be some limitation or another that is not mentioned in the official Tech Specs (ie: File size).

Has anyone had any experience in this situation & may be able to enlighten me?

Thanks for your time…

(PS: & I do understand that it will not play copyright encoded content from the itunes store)

Well, yes and no. :). They should play, but MP4 seems to give the player all kinds of fits, for SOME people… Try it, if it don’t work, send it back.
