WD Elements Play (Change HDD)

Hello:

I have a WD Elements Play multimedia drive and a few days ago I spoiled the internal hard disk. I bought

exactly the same model to replace ( WD Green 3TB ) but nothing happens when you connect (only the WD logo shown).

I have to reinstall or partition the drive ?

not sure about this one …

but i would have formatted the drive NTFS in Windows 1st before putting the drive in the Elements Play enclosure

and then in the Elements Play setup, Format the HDD

Note: it may only format 2TB instead of 3TB  (Page 44  http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/UM/ENG/4779-705061.pdf )

if that happens, you could try formatting again in Windows using NTFS & GPT Partition

Exactly, that only works for 2TB models because they MBR system. 3 Tb models have GPT system and need to repartition the disk or get an ISO of it
