WD Elements 3TB always spinning

Hi,

two days ago I’ve bought a WD Elements 3TB in order to increase my PC Server storage capacity, this external HDD is to be always connected to a pc running 24/7, the problem is that it seems to me that the WD Elements is always spinning, the vibrations I feel when I touch the disk case is the same as when I’m copying something to the HDD. Is this normal or is something wrong with the device?

I’m worried this constant spinning is gonna shorten the lifespan of the HDD.

if no hibernation will run all the time

you can eject the drive when not in use if you want
