I bought a WD Elements 2TB through online retailer(Not WD shop) but I found that it will automatically stopped transfering file. So I use WD Data LifeGuard Diagnotics tools to check. It came up with the model number: Hitachi HTS541680J9SA00 and the serial number is different with the one shown on box. When try to run a fast test using the tool, it ended up hang and error said,“Read SMART Attribute command error on drive 2.”
Does it mean this WD Elements 2TB is a fake product?
Update: I think I’m screwed. The model number Hitachi HTS541680J9SA00 is a 80GB capacity Hard disk according to link below.
