WD Cloud Mirror Server Connect To Laptop - Not Online?

Hi folks,
First time asking question so forgive me if it’s a silly one.
I recently purchased a 4TB WD Cloud Mirror and had it connected directly to WiFi Hub and was working fine, but what I’m not trying to do is to connect it directly into my laptop via Ethernet cable, but to still get it online and connecting to MyCloud, as not that keen with it sitting in the hall in a shared flat.

Any idea’s how I can get it connected to the BT WiFi box but still have it in my bedroom and connected directly into my laptop?

Thanks in Advance
Iain

The unit requires direct Internet access with open ports in order to communicate with WD’s servers. While you could try manually setting a static IP configuration and adding the DNS servers you use to access the Internet, this will not guarantee cloud access when not connected to router.

Thank you Trancer for your reply.
I was wondering if anyone had done anything fancy, as my ideal situation is to have it hard wired via Ethernet into my laptop in my bedroom, and have some device that will plug into it and picks up the wifi signal and then acts like it’s connected directly…basically saving me having it sitting in the hall of a share flat.

Wondering if anything like a Wifi Bridge would work for something like this…
