Bios detects the hard drive but I encountered an error code 0146 is there a chance that my hard drive is good please I need a reply my BP is high
A hard disk drive,
It is a sealed aluminum box with controller electronics attached to one side. The electronics control the read/write mechanism and the motor that spins the platters. The electronics also assemble the magnetic domains on the drive into bytes (reading) and turn bytes into magnetic domains (writing). The electronics are all contained on a small board that detaches from the rest of the drive:

Am not asking the definition of hard drive
@Crucifixx
If you read the information I provided, do you think a few sprinkles of water penetrated the Hard Drive?
Did you open up the computer and give it some time to dry out?
Error Code 0146 Did you do a search yourself?
I opened the computer and saw that water dried up on the body it actually shows on the bios but couldn’t boot to windows the connection wasn’t touched by water
Does it mean the hard drive is good or bad? cause bios detects it.
You haven’t said anything about how old your computer is. Were you able to try any of what is suggested in the link I sent you for the error code 0146?
woah. . . . .
When you say “HDD” what do you mean? Do you truely mean a 2.5" or 3.5" Hard Disk. . . .or are we really talking about a SSD in the form of a bunch of chips on a plug-in module on the motherboard?
If it truly is a HDD. . .then pull it out; put it in an external HDD enclosure. . . .and attach it to another PC. See what happens. Heck. . .I would try to do the same steps even if it was a SSD.
If you can see the data on the disk. . . great. STOP AND MAKE A BACKUP.
If not. . . . . toast.
If the disk is ok. . .reinstall and see if it works.
If it doesn’t work. . . .well. . . get a new HDD and start the reload process. (Hint: if this is a PC; I would not use OEM restore disks; I would download a clean installation image from microsoft and go from there)
Sorry for the late reply my computer is 11 years old I just change the hard drive and install windows the laptop off upon booting without any warning it just boot and off suddenly
