WD 3TB playbook not being picked up from TV or media player

Hi guys,

I have a Toshiba e.Store TV (1TB) media player, and i can pickup any USB device (even my 2TB 2.5") works fine.

My TV nor my above specified media player doent get picked up.

Can it be that the WD is usb3, and all the other only USB2 ???

Hello,

USB3.0 is backwards compatible with USB2.0 so it should work for that matter. However, I recommend that you contact the TV or MEdia player manufacturer to verify the External drive specifications in order to work. Usually the drives needs to be formatted as FAT32 in order to work on a TV.

thanks … i emailed toshiba now …

the player can read ntfs and fat32 drives …

and i dont think it is related to size (the WD is 3TB)

Ok, the reason why the 3TB isnt seen by any media devices, it is formatted in a specific way (not fat32 or ntfs).

media players can only read up to 2TB
