Want to combine WD my passport wireless Pro in combination with iTunes/Apple TV

Hi there,
I am seriously considering of purchasing a WD wireless passport pro to use it as media station in my house. I use a Macbook Air and I have a 3rd generation Apple TV. I was wondering if it is possible to move my complete iTunes library including all movies and series to the WD passport, and to wirelessly stream my files on my Macbook Air via iTunes? And as iTunes makes home sharing possible, I wonder if it is also possible to stream my content on the Apple TV as well. Can anyone confirm whether this is possible? Thank you!

Apple will not allow any media to play directly from any drive, wireless or otherwise, if it has their copy protection on the file. About all they allow is to copy the file to their device (e.g.iPad) and if it an authorized purchase of owner it should play.

I play all my music and movies to my iPad, because neither the music nor videos are from Apple and have NO copy protection on them so they play on iOS devices from my MPW drive perfectly fine…

How to remove copy protection is another discussion, entirely which requires some googling for info.

Really I never noticed that it is not possible to play media from external drives… even if I happen to have bought Paragon to have full access to NTFS drives for instance? I read about many people who have moved their iTunes library to an external disk. That is exactly what I want to do but only wirelessly then. So that is not an option with the WD wireless passport?

Personally, I would never move my iTunes Media file from my PC to a wireless drive. Too risky. What I do instead is COPY that folder to my MPW so the original file remains intact. I just update the file on the MPW periodically.

My comments regarding not playing pertains to Apple-downloaded videi files.I have not heard that Apple changed their policy on this issue. As for music, I prefer to pay $7 for music album downloads instead of iTunes $10 an album. There are legit places to find albums for less and with no copy protection.

If you doubt what I told you about the video issue, start googling for examples.
