Let me approach my problem in a different way.
Can I remove my 8tb drive from my MyBook enclosure, remove the hardware USB-SATA board and install the drive in a desktop, reformat (losing all the data) and just have an 8tb internal drive?

You can try to check internal hard drives removed from My Book enclosure and connect it to computer. However, internal drives are hardware encrypted with My Book enclosure and might be face some issue when connecting.
I was afraid of that. Any suggestions as to what I can do to keep and use this drive? I am not opposed to re-formatting and just using it s an internal drive.
I’m open to ideas…
