If you open the case you void the warranty. If the drive came with Smartware the data is hardware encrypted so hooking it up without the circuit board is useless. You might be able to get a new USB port soldered back on. Other than that look for a replacement board on Ebay. Look at posts or PM fzabkar he knows the most about this.
