Unable to detect old WD Passport

Hi I have a old 1TB WD passport bought 2014 rarely used. Now I trying to retrieve some old files inside but my computer is unable to detect.

I plug in to my CPU USB 3 port, i see light appear in my HD and i can feel the disk spinning inside. However my PC doesn’t make any sound (whenever new device is plugged in) and does not appear in my computer. I have check device manager and is not listed under storage. I have checked Disk Management under My Computer, it doesn’t show the new volume either. I tried to restart my PC with my HD plugged in also failed.

Does it spoil because I didn’t use it for about 1 year or so? Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Hi crimsonsnow,

I would suggest to try to use WD Passport device with another USB cable. Also you can have a look on this KBA to check for the issue.
