Unable to create share on external USB

Since the upgrade to the new firmware on MyCloud, (firmware WDMyCloud v04.04.02-105 : Core F/W) both of my external USB drives have failed to connect - error is as shown.

I have rebooted, reinstalled firmware, shut everything off, and even sworn a lot, but its not working …

Is this a new bug (if so, thanks WD!)

Managed to resolve.

I have two external drives connected via powered hub direct into the MyCloud - these were called Backup_1 and Backup_2

After the firmware upgrade, the same two folders existed, but were joined by two others “Backup_1-1” and “Backup_2-2”

None were accessible, and the error codes shown were as above.

In the end, I removed the drives and all traces of the share. Ran chkdsk through the laptop (which picked up a fault on one drive), and the reapplied the firmware. Once done, I connected both drives and was back as it should be.

Question though:why the error?

There are many different situations that could lead to the above error. Usually disconnecting the drives and mounting them again is the best way to address it.

True, but I would still like to know why two additional shares were created after the firmware upgrade.

As you suggested, unmounting and re-mounting did not work.

All working now though, so no real problem

How did you make it work??
