The Plex issue.. Again

Morning! I just took delivery of a brand new 8TB MCH to replace my very full 4TB. I am very well versed in setting up plex on MCH and its been fine for me on the 4TB.

Setting up the new 8TB with plex, you go through the process of activating the app and the Plex folder pops up on the drive and then click on “configure”

This is where its stuck… It goes into plex and normally you would see on the page the 4 folders on the Plex dashboard when you first start off.

This time round plex asks you do you want to setup new folders?! Obviously I know it’s pointless to do this, as plex needs the default 4 folders from the MCH to draw the files from. This is not happening.

So in a nutshell, plex sees the MCH but not the folders. I’ve even resorted in master resetting the MCH and deleting all traces of it on my router and starting afresh.

Now I cannot even get past the configure stage! The popup tab comes up but nothing happens, tried the shortcut (ip address:xxxx/Web) method but no joy. It says unable to connect. Before I raise a return with amazon, any other suggestions? The unit has had a master reset and detached from my wd account 4 times already and it’s still doing it!

Thanks

Hi

I have exactly the same problem - no shared files from the cycloud home drive being pulled through - making the drive pointless.

Did you get a solution ?

Yeah I did, not sure if its by fluke…

I deactivated plex for the millionth time via WD apps

Then did the following below for registry stuff (there was one entry I couldn’t find)

I reactivated Plex via WD. Waited with baited breath and sure enough the wizard came up (for once, normally it was blank leaving you dangling in the wind) and “setup media libraries” came up and the much fabled folders turned up and proceed as normal with files etc…

My server after 5 days of messing around is finally up and running - Libraries all there and hell even added some and works great.

Glad you got it sorted - I’m still struggling. We use Macs and it’s not clear what to do with the plist files. Unless WD get back to me with some proper support - I might just have to give up.

figured it out - Macs don’t want to share ‘outside the home on set up’. Turn that off and it just worked !!! Can turn remote access on later.
