Pardon the naivety, but I’m tasked with replacing my (small) company’s network storage. Couldn’t find a support email on WDs site, so here I am. Here’s to hoping it’s the right place…
I essentially need two NAS devices, one stored in-house and one stored externally. In an ideal situation, the in-house one would be the one that is worked on. The in-house NAS would then sync the files to the external NAS over the cloud, in turn creating a remote backup.
I’ve highlighted the My Cloud DL2100 - see amazon.co.uk/dp/B00SYL0MHS - and it seems pretty good, but I was just wondering if it could cater for the previous requirements, and if so, how. I also have a budget of circa £1000 for the two.
If I’m in the wrong place, I’d appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
This My Cloud subforum is primarily geared towards the single bay My Cloud models.
For the single bay My Cloud units there is no official way to keep them in “live” sync. What one can do is use the Safepoint / Backup option within the My Cloud Dashboard to backup the contents of one My Cloud to another. The problem is that the the older My Cloud v4.x firmware models running Safepoint cannot officially backup to a location outside of the local network. One may be able to have the Backup option in the newer v2.x My Cloud single bay models backup to a location outside of the local network (at least the single bay My Cloud User Manual (http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/?id=439&type=25) hits at being able to do so).
