Support for AVI-DivX

The WD TV box currently support AVI-Xvid. Lots of programs that write to AVI format use AVI-DivX. Playing an AVI-DivX on the WD TV player results in jumpy video playback. DivX is a commercial codec, while Xvid is a non-commercial codec that is almost the same. Is there a plan to add support for AVI-DivX?

Already Supported (Page 219 in the User Manual)

Al of my DixX / Xvid Avi’s play perfectly fine

But Note: there is no support for GMC (warppoints) or QPEL in these files
which may be the reason for “jumpy playback” or maybe your files are badly encoded to start with.

We’ll never know unless you provide a sample or at least a mediainfo output log

no idea … looks ok i suppose
i remember reading some other ppl had problems with DivX 4

Anyways DivX is pretty old and ancient … WD rarely update the WDTV Media Players anymore, so don’t expect a fix anytime soon or at all.

All WD TV HD/Live/Mini Media Player only supports to play AVI files encoded with Xvid codec, perhaps I will need to download a third-party program to encode Divx AVI files into Xvid codec.
