Subtitle issue

I played movies on WD TV Live Media Player (1st gen if I’m not mistaken, no built-in W-FI). I’m using My Book Live as a media storage.

There are some movies I’ve downloaded from the net those its subtitles doesn’t recognize by my player. I’ve put the srt file (with the same name as the mp4 file) on the same folder with the mp4 file. I’ve also checked with VLC and Quick Time, there is no subtitle available. Therefore I don’t need to extract the mp4 file.

But the issue still remains the same. My player still doesn’t recognize the srt file.

Do I have to double checked the srt file again and try to search the right ones?

Please anyone. Thank you.

Do you access via network share or media server? External SRTs are usually supported even via DLNA.

Yes, it works if I running them thru Network Shares directory. Thanks a lot!

But, like u said, even DLNA can recognize the file. How? Can u tell me?

Depends on your server (and client, in this case the WDTV which reads SRT over DLNA). Usually all you have to do is name them accordingly and keep the names short, like ~30 chars max:

That.70s.Show.1x01.avi

That.70s.Show.1x01.srt
