Stuck on preparing backup after changing size on timemachine

Hi!

I went into the web GUI and configured the time machine backup in the settings so it uses 1 GB of availible WD My Cloud space instead of all 2.9

After that I started a backup in time machine but its stuck on “Preparing backup” and been so for about 40 minutes now. Is this normal? Does it configure something?

I have tried to but it back on 2.9 GB of space but still no difference.

Any suggestions on how to solve this?

Try disabling Time Machine, deleting the old backup files and then rebooting your NAS.

But then Im loosing all my old backups?

Suddenly it works again. Just had to wait a long long time. Maybe it took longer time on first backup after I changed the size of time machine?

That is also a possibility. Still, I’d recommend confirming if this behavior repeats itself.
