Hi, I’m looking to pick one of these up real soon, and I was wondering what the Streaming Speeds are?
My download speed is ~55mbps and upload speed is ~15mbps. I was hoping that I’d be sufficient enough to be able to Stream Video from the device to my Phone whilst I’m away from home (download speed being ~15mbps).
if your upload speed is really 15mbps, not just rated then it is plenty fast as long as the remote download speed is similier.
one caveate is i don’t believe there is any true remote streaming option, you can use the WD mycloud app to open the file which will download it to a temp location then launch your default viewer

With iOS, it’ll “stream” any Apple-compatible MP4 or M4V file, at least. Other formats do require download & opening with other apps.
With Android it’ll stream almost anything without need of downloading. I have an Asus TF700T and have yet to find anything it won’t stream to my default player.
Thanks for the answers! Another question has come to mind…
In the scenerio where someone is taking data from the NAS; the NAS will be Uploading to the device requesting the Data, and therefore the Upload Speed of the Network will be effected. I’m aware that Uploading will affect the Network’s Download Speed, so my question is: Is it possible, within the My Cloud Settings, to put a cap on how much of the ‘Uploading Speed’ it can take? So to cap it at 75% so the Download Speed is as little affected as possbible as we like to play game online here and need the Download Speed as high as possible.
I’m not sure if it’s possible to cap the Upload Speed through the Router settings, but unfortunately that is not an option at the moment.
I have 5mbps upload bandwidth and I have buffering interruptions if I try to stream videos to my iPhone remotely (wireless, not even Cellular).
I’m not as worried about buffering issues as I am worried about the Network’s Download Speed deteriorating due to someone streaming something. The Download Speed is decent, but games can lag at times when multiple people are downloading/streaming.

Yeah – It’s the end-to-end connection that’s key.
I have 45mbps upload – but I’ve yet to stay at a hotel where I can stream ANYTHING over their WiFi. I have much better luck using 4G – and I have unlimited data plan, and only occasional bandwidth issues there.

Sorry bro I just have to correct this. The WD app is not sort of relay but it’s just telling the player the location of the data. Then the player will do the fetching. When the player request for data from the NAS, this is being done via WebDav which supports http byte range transfers (similar to youtube and multi-threaded downloaders). Which means you can FFWD/RWD and even resume on the media if the player supports.
If you have multiple connections streaming remotely from your NAS (not just WDMyCloud, any NAS/PC) filling up your upstream, then you’ll encounter downstream issues (i.e. lags in your TCP games) if you don’t have enough upstream bandwidth. Remember, unlike UDP, every TCP packet received needs a successful ACK (SYN->SYN/ACK->ACK). If your upstream is saturated, the SYNs and ACKs will suffer. I believe you ever heard someone telling about limiting to 80% of your torrent uploads as not to affect your downloads. This is the reason why.
To your question about capping 75% of the upload speed, this is not officially supported on WDMyCloud. Best is to look for these options on your router if available as you’ll need some modifications on the NAS which would affect your WDMyCloud warranty. I have my WDMyCloud modified to cap 1MB/s for each downloads from my symmetrical 1Gbps internet upload.
