I have an original WD Live drive and the short “2 minute” disk test never completes. It gets to 90% fairly quickly and then sits there. I’ve let it run 30 minutes before I gave up. I haven’t tried the long test, because I figure if the short test never finishes, the long one probably won’t either.
Looking at the “smartctl -a /dev/sda” output, it looks like it’s been doing this for around 6 years. Other than that the drive has been doing well considering it’s age. Any idea why the test fails?
