Replacement OS3 My Cloud Mirror

I have a MyCloud Mirror OS3 which is hitting end of support. Now I want to buy a new device with OS5, but what is the right thing to do? The WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra and the WD My Cloud Home Duo are both satisfactory, but have also been on the market for some time. Won’t these also be end of support soon?

Hi @Ferry2,

OS5 Compatible devices are mentioned below:

  • My Cloud (Glacier) w/ 2.xx.xxx
  • My Cloud Mirror Gen2
  • My Cloud EX2 Ultra
  • My Cloud EX2100
  • My Cloud EX4100
  • My Cloud DL2100
  • My Cloud DL4100
  • My Cloud PR2100
  • My Cloud PR4100
  • WD Cloud (Japan)

Please refer to the following article of My Cloud OS 5: Firmware Availability and Supported Devices

Stay away from the MyCloud Home series.

Can I buy a My Cloud Expert EX2 Ultra 0TB and drop the drives from my old My Cloud Mirror into the new box?

If not, what is the best option for keeping my existing data?

The best option is to copy your data to a usb drive, ditch the MyCloud, and copy your data back from the usb drive to a synology NAS.
