Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to share some concerns and seek advice about my MyBook Duo. I’ve encountered RAID configuration problems twice now, which forced me to perform system restores using the restoration utility each time.
Is it normal for these issues to occur frequently, or should I consider claiming the warranty? Any guidance or similar experiences from the community would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!
What exactly do you mean by “raid configuration problems”. What error messages did you get? How long have you had the Duo (what exact model is it)?
If the device is faulty and still under warranty, by all means you should RMA it.
Frequent RAID configuration issues with your MyBook Duo are not normal and could indicate a hardware or software problem. Before considering a warranty claim, it’s important to troubleshoot potential causes.
Start by running WD Drive Utilities to check for SMART errors or bad sectors. Failing drives can cause RAID instability. Also, make sure your firmware and WD software are up to date, as outdated versions can lead to unexpected failures.
Check your power supply and USB connection for stability. Faulty adapters or cables can cause RAID disruptions. If possible, try a different outlet or cable to rule out connectivity issues.
If the problem persists, back up your data and perform a full RAID rebuild. This can help determine whether the issue is with the drives or the enclosure itself.
If you continue experiencing failures despite these steps, it’s best to contact WD support and consider a warranty claim. Persistent RAID failures could indicate a faulty unit that needs replacement.
