Help! I was deleting files photo & video) from the automatic ‘Backup’ folder in my MyCloud OS5 app, thinking they were duplicates of files I’d moved into my share folder. However, the day after when I went to look at those files in the share folder they were previously stored in, they were gone! Is there anyway to recover these files? I didn’t have a recycle bin configured (though I certainly do now!)…

You may still be able to recover your deleted files from MyCloud OS5. First, check if the files were backed up through WD Sync, Time Machine, or a cloud service like Google Drive or OneDrive. If SSH access was enabled, you can try searching for lost files using the find command.
Another option is to remove the MyCloud hard drive, connect it to a PC via a SATA-to-USB adapter, and use Windows Data Recovery Software to scan for lost files, as MyCloud OS5 uses a Linux-based file system.
Additionally, contacting WD Support might provide device-specific recovery options. To improve your chances of recovery, avoid using the device to prevent overwriting the deleted files.
