Recommended uninterupted power supply for DL4100

I once found a recommended list of UPS’s on the WD site for the DL4100 but cannot find it now. Can anyone supply a link or recommend what UPS they used. I’m in the UK so would prefer a UPS that is available here ie 240v.

Hello, from the compatibility list here: All Products: Shop Hard Drives, SSDs, USBs, & Memory Cards | Western Digital

Thank you.

I use this:
CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems - Pure Sine Wave | 100% Active PFC Compatible with USB Charging Ports… I like it so much that I have one for my Synology DS213 as well.

Thanks for the info rgtalk. I have a MyCloud WD4100. If I go with that make I need to decide what size suits it best 900, 1300 or 1500va.

I use it on my WD DL4100.

How did you decide on the size to use ie 900,1300 or 1500va. The only reference to power I have found is this on the WD DL4100 site.
Power Supply

Input voltage: 100V to 240V AC
Input frequency: 50 to 60 Hz
Output voltage: 19V DC, up to 6.32A

Do you know how that relates to va of the UPS.

19 VDC x 6.32 A = approx 120 Watts at maximum load

The CP1500PFCLCD UPS can run 900w for approximately 2 minutes and 450W for approximately 11 minutes,

Since I also have another NAS on this same UPS, let’s just say my load was 240W, then I should get at least 22 minutes of run time before the UPS battery gives up. That should be plenty of time to shutdown things safely.

The folks at Cyberpower could give you a better estimate of your actual run time if all you have is the DL4100 plugged into the UPS. More than likely, you won’t be running the DL4100 “flat-out” at 120 W at the time the power goes out, but I always plan based on Murphy’s law.

Thank you rgtalk, this information has allowed me to make a more informed decision. As you are the owner of a DL4100 & the UPS have you had it put to the test. ie a power failure and auto shutdown. Also when power is restored does the DL4100 restart.
Sorry if this sounds a bit basic but at this stage my own situation is that I am learning fast.

I have had it put to the test twice. Both times, however, I was at the house when we lost power. So, all I had to do was walk into the room where the NAS’ are and shut them down.

I haven’t tested an auto shutdown or auto power up. Since I was already there, I just turned them back on once power was restored.

There is not one device in my complete computer system than needs a true sine wave UPS.
The system has worked fine through many power outages with a modified sine wave ups.

Why should we need a more costly UPS addition just for a $24-40 power supply.

The original included PS is under rated any way so just get a better higher watt power supply…

A UPS is always a good idea.
