@ gscualo_ I have also used WD’s version of Acronis to create an exact clone of my OS, just my C drive, no data, and saved it as 1 file to my slave drive and to MY BOOK ELITE and then restored it to a new, bigger boot drive and it worked beautifully I am surprised to say. And you should feel cheated and do as WD’s own bill_s says and return the drive for a Seagate. Seagate IS after all the #1 largest hard drive manufacturer in the world and WD is the second largest, soon to be the third largest if they keep making dumb software like “Smartware”, and putting the same kind of people on it’s “Community Board” to try and help it’s soon to be former customers. Keep up the good work “Community Manager” and you’ll be “Community Janitor”!
@ Brandon_D_ That’s very helpful Brandon! It took a non WD employee, Joe_S, a “Frequent Advisor” to give him the help and answer he needed. +1 Kudos to you Joe! How very sad. NEGATIVE 2 Kudos to you Brandon for a not so helpful answer. True, Smartware cannot “Image” or “Clone” a drive. Thanks for pointing out that limitation, because the REAL draw back is that Smartware is only a resource hog and can’t do very much of anything efficiently! The same is true for WD employees obviously! How unfortunate for such a high quality company to go down the drain like this.
