Purple vs Gold

Building an 80TB NVR using a Dell server chassis (probably something like an 720XD.)

Question: should I get the Gold drives or do I just get Purple? I believe they could both be raid’d to present one large disk to the NVR software.

Purple:
cheaper
largest size=8TB
3 year warranty
300,000 load/unload cycles
power@idle: 4.9

Gold:
more expensive
largest size=10TB
5 year warranty
600,00 load/unload cycles
power@idle: 7.1

So, what’s the consensus? This is to run a 42 IP camera system.

Hi,

If your goal is 80TB, I’ll get the Gold as it will be only 8 10TB drives instead of 10 8TB. So, more space on the case and better ventilation and better warranty.
