Power On\Off Options for Elements 18TB HDD

Hi there Everyone,

I have just purchased an Elements 18TB External HDD and I am using it as an external HDD to my Nvidia Shield TV Pro to store all my Digitized Movies.

What I would like to know is what is the best policy \ practice for leaving the HDD on all ways or powering it down after use each time that I watch a movie, as I am not sure how well it runs continuously when not in use via the Nvidia Shield TV Pro

I hope that makes sense and I look forward to your recommendations on this question guys,

You can always leave it on. I believe the hard drive will spin down itself if no data transfer within an 1 hour. It will spin back up when you start using it again. You don’t need to manually turn ON/OFF the unit.
