Plex has lost connection to My Cloud Home Server since Outage

Since the Monday’s outage I can no longer access Plex on any of my devices. It was working fine on My Cloud Home until I setup local network access this morning. Now, when I try to go to My Cloud content on the Plex app, I get a big ! sign and a message saying “My Cloud Home is currently unavailable. Verify you have a network connection and that the server is online”. I have logged out of Plex and logged back in again, but that has not fixed the problem. I have a hunch that setting up the local network access on my PC has messed up the network connectivity with the Plex app, but I am no computer whizz, so just guessing. Any advice gratefully received.

That’s totally normal. Plex is not able to have access to your MyCloud Home as every services has been shutted down. So, you can access to your files locally, but for now, as long as the web services are down, Plex won’t be able to access to your files. Maybe there is a workaround, but I doubt.

Thanks Juliaan. If that is the case I will wait a while and see how long this outage lasts, but if it is dragging on for week’s my solution will be to scrap the My Cloud and buy a Synology NAS. I have lost all trust in WD.

You could try accessing the device’s Plex server locally, if you haven’t already.

Go to http://ip-address:32400 where ip-address is the address of your device on the local network. Works fine for me, before and during this outage.

Tried it, but tells me that connexion not allowed sadly. Should also be for plex : http://yourip:32400/web/index.html

Thanks. I didn’t get it to work. Also, I really want Plex access when I away from home, so obviously I will need the full service to be restored.
