WD TV Live firmware 1.01.11 just installed successfully and now the password field cannot be erased. it always displays several stars no matter what I do. It worked before I upgraded the firmware and I successfully set the login and password to access files on a networked PC running Window XP. I have tried resetting to factory defaults and the problem persists. Any help at all would be very appreciated. Thanks.
Have you tried:
Home → Settings → Clear Login Info ???
ahhh! That’s what I needed to know.
Thanks very much OMDB-PILot-
Yes, I have same trouble though in my case the settings/clear password does not work. No matter what user name you come up with that same filled in password field is there mocking you. Network access to YouTube is fine but access to networked (ethernet) computer is none existant. PC can “see” WDTV Live and all directories are shared. Anyone had this problem?

Are you saying that you have put a password / user name in the boxes and even after the process described above
(Home → Settings → Clear Login Info) you still see the info you put in.
Try resetting to factory defaults via the internal menu anfd unplugging the unit for some minutes.
The full menu path is
SETTINGS / NETWORK / Clear Login Info for Network Shares
