Currently, external drives such as WD MyBookDuo or WD MyPassport can not be “unlocked” and used on Linux or other operating systems other than Windows and Mac.
There are many Linux users that would appreciate some support from WD, and if WD would simply provide the information/api etc needed, they do not even have to create the actual Linux tool themselves, the user community will.
Ideally, the UNLOCK tool should be open sourced so that we may create unlockers for any operating system we choose to use.
