Hi!

Are there any plans to make the unlock tool for My Passport Ultra drives available for Linux users?

No need to port the whole software suite, Windows-only administration is ok, but just the possibility to USE a password protected WD drive under Linux would be quite a step forward.

Your post sounds more like a good Feature Request; the best place for this, is in the Ideas Exchange section. This way someone from WD will be sure to see it and will allow more users to support your idea.

However, I would first search and make sure that there are no other active Feature Requests suggesting the same or similar improvements. If there is, then you could add your post and vote on it.

Basic Linux support for temporary unlocking

Hello all,         Since WD doesn’t make any official software for My passport in Linux, there’s now an unofficial port of the wd-security for Linux.  Note: This utility is completely “as-is”. It only supports a temporary unlock of the encrypted WD My Passport drives. It has only been tested in Ubuntu 13.04 or above.  Please test it and see if it helps.
