Basic Linux support for temporary unlocking :)

Hello all,

Since WD doesn’t make any official software for My passport in Linux, there’s now an unofficial port of the wd-security for Linux.

Note: This utility is completely “as-is”. It only supports a temporary unlock of the encrypted WD My Passport drives.

It has only been tested in Ubuntu 13.04 or above.

Please test it and see if it helps.

You can grab the code here:  wd-security for linux

Hello,

Thank you for sharing this utility with the community, however as electronicsguy has stated it is not an official application from WD, there are some risks regarding the encryption on the drives, and if the encryption has problems the data on the drives will not be recoverable.
