Here’s my problem: have recently moved from windows to Linux/Ubuntu. My Passport EXT. HDD is not possible to work as it is there, or to be unlocked. Was advised by a Linux dev. to perform the following : update WD smatware and disk firmware, disable the VCD in order to remove password (under settings WD smartware). After that i’d proceed with Ubuntu.
Is there any online WD application to perform this? Is it possible to be done through Ubuntu or have to do it with a windows PC?
