Hello, I’m a technical novice and would appreciate some help please. I’ve bought a few My Passport WD storage devices before. I Plugged it in and away I go. Eventually it stopped working.

Recently I bought 2 new My Passport WD 2Tb. I plugged one in. My laptop recognises it, but that’s it. It wont open, in order to store my music, videos, films, pics. I’m at crisis point here, because all my data is on my 500GB laptop and it’s slowed to a snail’s pace, with only 4GB of space left.

I need to get it off my laptop before it dies. Is there something else I need to do, in order to get it to work? Apologies if I’ve posted in the wrong place. Thank you so much for reading. Can anyone help me please?

Hello Tony, when I right click on My Passport, my choices are: eject - create shortcut - troubleshoot - properties. There is no option to open it.

Thank you Tony for your interest in my problem. I bought two of these external drives and luckily the second one let me open it and set up the .exe. The first drive must be faulty, so I will return it to the retailer. Happy knowing I have some resolution. Have a happy Christmas.
