Firstly I could not get installation CD to discover My Book on network, however it is all connected and shows in computer folder and in my router connections.
However all I see when I open WD Smartware is just my PC, no My Book and backup/retrieve are greyed out?
Any ideas anyone?
Well I had to change my Kaspersky Internet Security fron 2013 to 2012 version to get the Cd and Smartware working…
Also when I updated Smartware to 1.6.0 showed my Book locked and could not access it, so had to revert to older version of Smartware.
TBH not at all impressed with WD, think I may look for another program to backup to this drive…
Can anyone recommend any software that perhaps they are using instead of this Smartware, which isn’t so smart?
The software to map the drive can easily get blocked by firewall or internet security as you have already confirmed, the drive can be mapped without software
you can use Windows backup or any other software that supports network drives
Yes thanks for the info Wizer I found the WD Limk to map drives and it works fine.
Unfortunately I cant use Windows backup as Windows 7 Home Premium that I am using doesn’t support backing up to a NAS drive. :confounded:
As I have mentioned in another thread on here I am going to use Fbackup and have asked some more questions that perhaps maybe you can answer. :neutral_face:
