No longer able to watch Youtube movie trailers

On my WD TV Live I’ve noticed recently under video library options I’m no longer able to watch any movie trailers via Youtube as I get the following message.

“The video is restricted by the video content owner and it is not available on TV connected device”.

I don’t generally use Youtube via internet services but this function seems to work ok. I just would like to be able to refresh my memory about a movie in my library by watching a trailer.

I’ve google this error and it seems like firmware updates from 4 or 5 years ago addressed this issue.

Has anyone any ideas how to resolve this?

Hi there, if you have the latest version of the firmware I would try to perform a reset on the unit and see if this clears the memory.

Hi, I’m using the latest firmware (2.02.32) so I’ve performed a full reset.

However, this has now removed the option to watch a YouTube movie trailer altogether.

I’ll try re-logging into YouTube via services but as the trailer option has disappeared from Movies options I doubt that will help.

Any further assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Update, I logged into YouTube then left the media player alone for half an hour.

Now I have the YouTube trailer option available again under Movie options but I still get the “The video is restricted by the video content owner and it is not available on TV connected device” error.

Any ideas?

Same issue here. Being able to watch a trailer to refresh on what the movie was about was a great feature! I’m currently getting the same error “The video is restricted by the video content owner and it is not available on TV connected device”. I’d love to hear if there’s a workaround to this.

Buy a new media player  (preferably not WD)

Personally speaking … i’ve been using a Raspberry Pi2 (Kodi/OpenELEC) for a while now … works great, Youtube Trailers included      and it receives updates very quickly when websites change their API or Code.
