No Drive Letter Assigned

I’m running Windows 8. I don’t know what I did but now my WD external hard drive is not showing up so I can access it.

It shows up in Management and is online but does not have a drive letter.

When I plug it in or unplug the usb I can hear it but never can actually see the drive anywhere.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you so much.

Can you assign it a drive letter?

Yes, I can but it still doesn’t show up in My Computer. From what I’ve read I may have messed it up when I reinstalled Windows 8 because I didn’t unplug it and the partition got messed up.
