I have a older model of WD external hard drive and it is not being recognized by my Windows 8 computer. What can I do about this

Does it show in Disk Management and does it have a Drive Letter assigned?

  • Have U recently upgraded or switched to a new/another computer ?
  • X64 or X86 ?
  • Have it been accessable from another PC, other windows-system?
  • How is it formatted, FAT32 or NTFS ?
