Newbie with MyCloud- coming from Synology

Hi, i am currently using a Synology Drive and it is working great, but WD is having a huge promo now, so i thinking to change it to either PR2100 / PR4100.

I would like to ask existing users if these are available in WD drives, as they are not mentioned in the technical Specs.

  1. Can the drive work like Dropbox / mapped network drive folder, while on an external network?
  2. I see that it comes with Acronis True Image WD Edition, but can it do cloning ?
  3. The WD Smarterware, is it for cloning of HDD ?

Hi there,

There is a way you can access the drive remotely, which is by going to www.mycloud.com, from here you are able to access the drive from outside your network.

The unit does not have Acronis WD edition, however, there is an Acronis app that you can install from the dashboard and this is not the WD edition software.

Smartware is a backup software, this will not clone a drive but will backup the computers over the network.
