New WD Caviar Black is slower than Blue!

Hi, so i just go a new 1TB WD Caviar Black and i did a clean installation of Windows 7 with all drivers installed but when i’m testing it with a CrystalDiskMark i’m getting lower results than the Blue so i can’t understand how ? WD said that Black is for a performance but i’m really diassapointed of the results. So please help what can i do to get the full speed of the Black one ? Also forgot to say that i’m running them on a SATA 2 slot not SATA 3!

  • WD Caviar Black 1TB running only Windows 7
  • WD Caviar Blue 500GB running my Data.

Hello,

If you are running the drives on a sata II connector, the speed of the drives will be about the same depending on the specifications of the drive.

Please note that the speed on the drive will be handle by the slowest port on the configuration.

if you have a sata 3 drive connected to a sata 2 slot, the transfer speed will be handle by the sata 2 slot.
